A
GAO report on
competitive sourcing in the Forest Service was released on February
21, 2008. Here are media reports and Congressional statements about
this report, with the most recent at the top of the list.

Together,
we can make a difference.
This didn't happen by itself. If you think it did, check with
employees in other agencies who still face competitive sourcing.
It happened because employees came together to form a union and
carried the truth about this deeply flawed program to Congress.
But there's more work ahead. To succeed, we need your support.

San
Diego Union Tribune article (Feb. 25, 2008): As
always, a partisan divide. This article spins GAO's
nonpartisan report and Senator Feinstein's response into "typical
politics." It also gets its facts wrong: the ban on Forest
Service outsourcing has been in place less than 3 months, not
the 3 years cited. Hopefully discerning readers will see past
the spin to GAO's findings of fact, which are finally presented
at the end of the article.
